Pretty salty weekend

As some more conference play got underway (BANG I should get paid for this stuff), we got a picture of what should shape up to be pretty a pretty interesting season in a few conferences.

First and foremost, the BigXII and SEC are in a complete and utterly different class than the rest of the league right now. Seriously.

SEC/Big XII top 25

2. Oklahoma 3-0 1,484
3. Georgia (2) 4-0 1,475
4. Florida (1) 3-0 1,442
5. LSU 3-0 1,363
6. Missouri 4-0 1,360
7. Texas 3-0 1,174
8. Alabama 4-0 1,132
10. Texas Tech 4-0 962
15. Auburn 3-1 785
18. Kansas 3-1 555
21. Vanderbilt 4-0 242

What's more, I submit that the MWC or WAC may be the third or fourth best conference in the land

11. Brigham Young 4-0 919
17. Utah 4-0 574
19. Boise State 3-0 363
24. TCU 4-0 117
25. Fresno State 2-1 105

At this point, the Big Ten has a boost (with PSU and Wisky playing good ball right now) over both conferences, but it's not by much.

And now for some nice smackalacks courtesy of Miami:

Players We're Friggin' Excited About

Dan LeFevour

The Central Michigan QB has been lighting up the scoreboard for two years now and he has two more to go. He's thrown for more that 6000 yards and ran for 1600 more in 2 seasons. He's just the second player to do the 3k/1k combo in a year. He's also led the Chippewas to two consecutive MAC Titles. Seeing as how he's not your mainstream player it was tough to get some video on him but it is out there!

Favre Retires

Brett Favre is finally hanging up the cleats. (Espn.com)

We know he's a professional but he was a stud under Jeff Bower at Southern Miss before that and upset some good teams while playing in Hattiesburg.

Some of his great accolades include (from Wikipedia):

- most career NFL touchdown passes (442)
- most career NFL passing yards (61,655)
- most career pass completions (5,377)
- most career pass attempts (8,758)
- most career NFL interceptions thrown (288)
- most consecutive starts (253,),
- most career wins @ starting QB (160)
- 2 Superbowl appearances
- 1 Superbowl win
- 3 time NFL MVP
- 2007 Sportsman of the year
- caught his own first pass in the NFL
- and the most important stat I've ever seen..... has played 17 seasons in the NFL and has started every game since his first start for the Packers in 1992.

Nobody. I repeat NOBODY will touch something like that ever again.

Rest easy, buddy.
