Players We're Friggin' Excited About

Jeremy Maclin, Mizzou

The Clip isn't all him(look for #9), but he makes his fair share of highlights. The freshmen lit up defenses and special teams last year with some blazing speed and shifty moves. Expect Daniel and J-Mac to keep the magic going in Columbia.

It Was Fun While it Lasted.

The day has finally come.

As hard as it is for us all to accept it, the greatness that is Ryan Perrilloux is finally off of the LSU Tigers team.

You can't even ask why. Maybe you could ask "why now?"

I'm sure he'll make some more headlines in the near future... just not for the Bayou Bengals.

Fight on Ben

Mauk was denied his appeal for a 6th year of eligibility.

But yet again fighting against the man.... Mauk will seek to go to the next level up to appeal.

Stick it to the man, Ben. Stick it to 'em

Players We're Friggin' Excited About

Mike Goodson, Texas A&M

Goodson was expected to be a star out of the gate for the Aggies but had to share the field with Jorvorskie Lane and QB Stephen McGee.

Franchione opted (and "brilliantly" at that) to let his QB have the most rushing yards. The option didn't fit as well with Goodson's skillset. While he had his moments, Goodson never got to be the featured back.

Franchione was fired and Mike Sherman came in his place, bringing a pro-style offense that should fit Goodson perfectly

With Lane being moved to FB and McGee staying in the pocket more, expect Goodson to finally get his chance to shine in 2008

Just to get an idea of Goodson's speed... skip to the 4:10 mark.

You see him cut up and turn up field at 4:18 (Texas A&M 35 yd. line)

He crosses the goal line at 4:24.

65 yards in 6ish seconds.

Admitted Homernesss

I'm just going on record, saying I like Tim Tebow. A good bit.

Basketball Player (look at that jump shot)

Missionary

Surgeon

Philander

I mean Philanthropist

You are one step closer to becoming America's Next Top Model

Suck it Ozark boy. Cali Holla!

You guys should shoot me that I know that and never read this blog again.

Not really.

But somebody has been deemed as the next top model at USC.

Mark Sanchez has won the starting position for the Trojans.

The QB position at USC is pretty much guaranteed a contract with a modeling company, friendship with Nick Lachey, and four girls (two per arm.)

In unrelated news Mitch Mustain is suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the foot.

Players We're Friggin' Excited About

Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree

Obviously these two aren't one player like we normally do. But they are you see. Because of Graham Harrell's 5700 yards of passing, almost 2000 of that was from the bad mofo Michael Crabtree. For Crabtree to have 2000 yards of receiving, Harrell has to throw 2000 yards too him plus the slew of other able-handed receivers that the Pirate Mike Leach fields.

The make or break deal for these two will actually be sitting on the bench while Harrell and Crabtree are putting on the fireworks show. They both need a good defense to come in and finally stop the Texas, Oklahoma, Mizzous, and Oklahoma States of the Big XII from being able to score as much as they do. Ruffin McNeil improved the D last season, but they need even more strides as a team if they are going to finally challenge for the South.

Crabtree embodies the term "jailhouse break"

Players We're Friggin' Excited About

Javon Ringer

Ringer made up the lightning of MSU's Thunder and Lightning (we're got to come up with another name for guys like this, White & Bush @ USC, Goodson & Lane @ A&M, Davis & Spiller @ Clemson) Like Biggie and the Quicky.... or lard bucket and greased lightning... Gosh... just something less cliche!!! I think I've used that word three times today regarding college football season... (cuddles in the corner repeating.. "150ish days... only 150ish days left") i digress. greatly.

Ringer had 1400+ yards but his TD stats fell victim to TD vulture Mike Als...
err... Jehuu Caulcrick. Hopefully he'll get the glory this year as he'll be the star back.

Friday's Friggin' Awesome Film

We're out again today. So Here's the Friday Film

It's Beanie wells tearing some stuff up.

Wells has had to share the field with other talented backs, but 2008 should be his year to shine. He's already on most peoples Heisman Boards.

Friday's Friggin' Awesome Film

Over @ EDSBS we love the chop block. Especially Auburn chop blocks. So here's a couple of great ones

Followed by some sweet cut blocks

And since we've had Jorvorskie Lane fever this week... the "knock a guy down 2x in one play" block (my personal favorite)

Players We're Friggin' Excited about

Demarco Murray, RB Oklahoma

Murray had a breakout season for the Sooners with fellow freshman Sam Bradford. What held back Murray back from an even better season was injuries as well as having to share the backfield with Allen Patrick and a stable of other reliable backs. 2008 promises more carries for Murray behind another Stoops-put-together O-Line.

Sherman is starting quickly.

We posted the video of all that is Jorvorskie Lane the other day but hopefully he's made some more news as Mike Sherman is thinking about doing what we all know should have been done (Thanks San Antonio Express News).

Lane has good hands as a receiver as well as GREAT speed for somebody his size. The problem with having him in as a running back is that his potential is diminished by sharing the back field with Michael Goodson (not to mention whitey QB Stephen McGee. ) You'd think that having the "Thunder & Lightning" option is great, but the two rarely saw the field together. The Aggies had a very solid FB in Chris Alexander which stopped the two from sharing the field as often as could be. Alexander is gone and this really puts Lane in a good position to move into the FB mode rather seamlessly.

This and he can stop worrying about watching his cheeseburger intake.

D-Mac is slightly, moderately quick

This is being slightly contested right now.... but regardless.

In case you didn't quite catch that:

4.27 seconds

40 yards.

Darren McFadden.

Yes you want him on your team.

Bama's Jones to Testify in Murder Case. Lord Saban says "SEC, You're Next."

Nothing to see here.

Apparently, Julio Jones hangs with a bit of the wrong crowd. This week Jones testified in a murder case about his friend's uncle. It could be purely coincidental, but if I'm a Bama fan, I'm already a little worried about one of my players being within sight of a drug-related shooting.

However if you're in to victories, you may end up moving north here in the near future.

Players We're Friggin' Excited about

Jake Locker

This week's player is an interesting one. After coming out of the gate looking like a bad MoFo at the beginning of the year knocking off Syracuse and a ranked Boise State, Washington's season then went downhill in a hurry. Locker isn't necessarily to blame for this, but his erratic passing didn't help down the stretch.

As you can see in the video below... he's got moves for a white boy. But few passes mixed in there can be an issue.

Hopefully this can be fixed as Willingham needs a good season.

Friday's Freakin' Awesome Film

This has been going around for quite a while... but we still love it. And we love Tebow.

And his choice in the ladies*

*Not really. But Internet rumors are always fun.

Players we're friggin excited about

Hopefully this will be a weekly feature if my rear's not too lazy to keep doing it.

#25 Knowshon Moreno - GA

Moreno redshirted in '06 and had a breakout season in '07. While he was anticipated to be good he was on the verge of great most of the season. He had 6 games over 100 yards as a freshman. That's pretty BMF in our book. Georgia looks to start the season towards the top and Moreno is one of the main reasons.

It would also turn out that he's the man. Who knew?
